Mangalore, Jan. 1: The chief judicial magistrate's court here has today sentenced nine persons convicted in a case of silver smuggling detected 12 years ago, to three years' jail term and a fine of Rs 25,000.
Those convicted include Kaup block Congress president Gangadhar Suvarna, who also happens to be the son-in-law of former Kaup MLA Vasant Salian.
